OFFICE OF ALUMNI AFFAIRS

The Alumni Association of Coahoma Community College functions to develop and maintain communication with alumni and friends of the college. The unit is charged with keeping alumni informed of the goals, events, activities, accomplishments, and other pertinent information about the college as well as sharing information on other alumni and alumni chapters. Membership in the association is available to all friends and alumni of the college for an annual membership fee, which includes local and national membership. One year's free membership in the association is given to each graduating sophomore. Each chapter consists of the following officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chaplain, and Parliamentarian.

Monies for the National Alumni Association are collected throughout the year and at the national meeting held in October. The funds are deposited into a local bank account that requires three signatures for withdrawal. A portion of the money collected is submitted to the institution for restricted or unrestricted use, leaving in the account only enough money for operating expenses.

Each year, several activities draw alumni back to the institution. These activities include the annual Founders' Day and Arbor Day programs, the annual football and basketball homecomings and parades, and graduation weekend in the spring. The annual meeting of the alumni association is scheduled during the football homecoming weekend activities. At this time, an Alumnus of the Year, selected by a committee of alumni and college officials, is recognized, and officers are elected for the upcoming year. The alumni executive committee calls meetings as needed during the year to conduct the business of the association. Alumni and friends are encouraged to participate in the growth and development of the institution.
