Championship coach to direct CCC camp

Basketball camp set June 22-26 in the Pinnacle

CLARKSDALE – Legendary basketball coach Ella Morris, a member of Mississippi’s Sports Hall of Fame who led Coahoma Community College’s Lady Tiger teams to championship titles, is directing CCC’s annual ‘Lil Tiger Basketball Camp June 22-26.

“This will be a week of learning basketball fundamentals as well as good positive attitudes and sportsmanship,” promises Coach Morris.

The camp runs from 9 a.m. – 12 noon Monday through Friday, and tuition is $50 with campers receiving certificates of attendance, a t-shirt, and competition awards on the final day.

June 19 is the registration deadline.

“Heavy emphasis will be placed on all basic fundamentals as well as individual and team play,” says Coach Morris. “

“The goal of the camp is to offer the camper maximum instruction for minimum cost under ideal learning conditions,” she says

Although the camp is geared to area elementary and middle school students in grades one through eight, Coach Morris says other grades also will be accepted.

Applications are available at area schools and also from the CCC Athletic Office in the Pinnacle.

Special donors are being recruited to underwrite tuition costs for students unable to attend without financial assistance.

“You can make a difference by sending a future athlete to camp,” says Morris.
