CCC shares Number 1 offensive ranking

Ladarius Dawson named top special teams player

Coahoma Community College shares Number One offensive honors in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College’s North Division following Thursday’s 32-31 win over East Central with Ladarius Dawson of Rosedale named top special teams offensive player for his 98-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Official stats are released by MACJC/Region 23 sports.

Others sharing the top spot following the first week of MACJC play are East Mississippi who beat Co-Lin 27-13; Itawamba winning 21-7 over Jones; and Northwest beating Gulf Coast 30-25.

Dawson was cited in individual scoring with two TDs, number one in punt returns, and number one in catches with eight receptions for 142 yards.

Tiger quarterback Garrick Jones, who only played one half, was fourth in passing with 19 of 27 completions for 240 yards.

D’Angelo Anderson was number two in kickoff returns with three for 63 yards total for an average of 21 yards.

Coahoma ranked third in total offense with 72 plays for 448 yards and an average of 6.2 yards.

In passing offense, CCC was third with 25 completions out of 38 attempts for 332 yards, and sixth in overall rushing offense with 34 attempts for 141 yards.

In total defense, the Tigers were seventh, and eighth in turnover margin. Napoleon Brewer of Whitehaven was cited for five tackles and one assist.
