Position Title: Clinical Director of Respiratory Care

Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Respiratory Care Program Director
Positions Supervised: Clinical Preceptors
Term of Position: 12 Months
Minimum Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
- A master’s degree is preferred from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
- Hold a valid RRT credential and current state license;
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care;
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor
Position Description: (primary functions)
- Responsible to the Respiratory Care Program Director
- Responsible to the Dean for Health Science
- Establishes and maintains effective Relationships with Coahoma Community College, participating health care facilities, ancillary departments, preceptors, Nursing Staff, and Medical Staff is essential.
- Provides leadership for the effective planning and management of the student clinical experience
- Supervises the clinical relationship between the school and clinical sites
- Monitor, maintain and develop clinical contracts
- Provides leadership in assisting the college to maintain standards of SACS and CoARC’s individual program accreditation
- Maintain all credentials as needed
- Serves as a classroom instructor as necessary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exemplifies extensive knowledge of the field of study and patient skills
- Demonstrates working knowledge of all equipment, preventive maintenance, disinfection, sterilization, and assembly of all equipment effectively in order to proficiently instruct students
- Assures adherence to all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Administers the activities, instruction, and projects of the department while monitoring each aspect of efficacy and quality
- Collaborate with the Respiratory Care Program Director and Dean for Health Sciences in the development and maintaining of clinical relationship(s)
- Assist in registration and supervision of all majors in the department
- Keeps expenditures within the department’s budget
- Provides the Office of Health Sciences a contract for each clinical affiliate
- Assumes responsibility of keeping records on student attendance and performance; makes reports to the Dean for Health Sciences and Respiratory Care Program Director
- Supervises the making of the department’s clinical schedule to be approved and coordinated by the Respiratory Care Program Director and Dean for Health Sciences
- Studies roll books, grade sheets, and course syllabi for accuracy; ensures that all conform to school policy
- Encourages professional growth of faculty members in the department
- Studies the grade distribution and reassesses the clinical/instructional program when necessary
- Encourages the improvement of human relations in the clinical affiliate so that learning is more effective
- Maintains an inventory of instructional equipment, materials, and supplies in the department Laboratory
- Works with the Respiratory Care Program Director on curriculum and clinical matters
- Evaluates the clinical preceptors annually
- Cooperates with the Director of Recruitment in the recruitment of students for the department and assists in the recruitment of students for the entire college
- Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments
- Participates in campus activities and programs
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Respiratory Care Program Director and Dean for Health Sciences.
