“Coahoma Community College’s greatest strengths are its accredited, accessible, and affordable education to students,” said Lynda Elliott, an instructor in CCC’s Business and Computer Information Systems program. “Small class size gives each student the opportunity to receive personal attention from instructors. Offering day, night, and online classes provide an opportunity for students to further their education.”

Elliott joined CCC’s faculty in August 2000. She attended Mississippi Delta Community College where she majored in Music Education. She then attended Delta State University where she obtained both a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management as well as a master’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Economics and Computer Information Systems (CIS).

Elliott uses her profession as a teacher to encourage her students to persevere through any obstacles they may face in life.

“Don’t give up on your dream--Even when life throws obstacles in your path and you feel like giving up. Even when life diverts your path for a while, still do not give up,” she said. “Instead find your way around the obstacle. It’s not what life throws at you, but how you react to it.”

She also hopes her actions are encouragement for her students to live by the golden rule—“Treat others how you would like to be treated.”

“I try to live my life according to what the Bible teaches; letting God be not only my Savior but also my Lord each day,” Elliott said.

Elliott enjoys reading Christian fiction books. Her other favorite pastimes include bowling, fishing, watching movies with family, and visiting out-of-town relatives.

She finds inspiration in these scriptures: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. …Plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11; “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31; and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13.
