Instructor Robert Rockett is a witness to the impact Coahoma Community College is making in the community and surrounding.

“Coahoma is an affordable institution which serves the community by providing a variety of options by which a quality education may be obtained,” said Rockett who teaches courses in the CCC’s English and Foreign Language Department.

Rockett himself is a CCC alumnus, receiving an Associate of Arts degree in English Education before continuing his education at Alcorn State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in English Education and a Master of Education degree from Delta State University.

As an instructor, Rockett genuinely cares about the total well being of his students.

“I want my students to retain the information taught in the classroom and apply it to everyday life,” he said.

For his efforts, Rockett was recognized as the Higher Education Appreciation Day Working For Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) in 2006 and also received the Humanities Teacher Award in 2008.

His life’s philosophy is “Do good and good will come back to you.”

Rockett’s hobbies include reading, and his favorite book is Clifton Taulbert’s Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored. He also enjoys bowling and traveling.

His favorite quote is “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.”
