Term of Position:  Spring Semester

Starting Date:  January 8, 2018

Site Location:  Tunica Middle School

Minimum Requirements:  Master’s degree in the subject area from an accredited institution or a masters in any subject area plus 18 graduate hours in the subject area to be taught. At least one year of teaching experience.

Position Description: (primary functions)

Teaches courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the department faculty and administered by the Dean of Academic Affairs.  Teach courses at Tunica Middle School during day and/or evening.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy
  • Updates and revises course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain currency and relevance
  • Maintains familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids and techniques, computer technology relative to courses within the discipline and recommend their adoption when appropriate
  • Cooperates with department chairperson or Dean for Academic Affairs in the development of the curriculum, in the preparation of course syllabi and the selection of textbooks
  • Seeks ways to improve instruction
  • Provides advice and/or assistance to associate faculty in regard to course content and instructional materials
  • Posts and observes office hours for purpose of academic advising and student consultation. 
  • Maintains accurate student attendance rosters
  • Advises and assists students during ongoing registration process
  • Maintains general knowledge of degree requirements, programs, and course transfer information
  • Attends scheduled discipline, division and college-wide meetings
  • Participates in assisting the college to maintain standards for accreditation
  • Participates in full regalia in official graduation ceremonies
  • Works with the Director of Library Services in the selection of print and non-print materials in the overall collection development of the Library Learning Resource Center
  • Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines
  • Contributes to and participates in staff development programs
  • Participates in college community activities and services
  • Submits required reports to the department chairperson or Dean for Academic Affairs in a timely manner
  • Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments
  • Participates in campus activities and programs
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the department chair or the Dean for Academic Affairs or Director for Educational Outreach
