Riveted to identifying friends and former classmates pictured in an historic Coahoma Community College yearbook, Yvonne Stanford, CCC library director (seated) demonstrates how easy it is to view with (from left) Dorothy Moses, library clerk; Dr. Vivian Presley, CCC president; and Dr. Greg Hudson, vice president of student affairs.

CLARKSDALE – Traveling down memory lane to revisit school days at Coahoma Community College and Agricultural High School is a computer click away thanks to the digitalization of yearbooks and other records by CCC’s Dickerson-Johnson Library.

“We are pleased to announce that the library has digitized yearbooks, presidential reports, ‘Free Spirits,’ (literary magazine); and a ‘Pictorial History of the Tiger Band,’ says Yvonne Stanford, library director.

Stanford says the project was made possible through the LYRASIS Digitization Collaborative – a Sloan Foundation grant-subsidized program that has made digitization easy and affordable for libraries and cultural institutions across the country.

Entire yearbooks since 1948 with the exception of 1987 including individual class photos, organizations, special features, and even advertisements can be viewed online.

According to Stanford, all items were scanned from cover-to-cover and in full color through the Collaborative’s partnership with the Internet Archive.

“You can choose from a variety of formats, page through a book choosing the ‘read online’ option, download the PDF or search the full text version,” she continued.
