CLARKSDALE — The Coahoma Community College men’s and women's basketball teams will officially kickoff its 2014-15 campaign Tuesday night Sept. 30 with its annual Midnight Madness preseason event at the Reid Gymnasium beginning at 10:30 p.m. and lasting into Wednesday morning.

The Tigers would like to invite local basketball enthusiasts out to campus to meet and interact with the team during the event which will feature student body and audience participation in shooting and dribbling contest leading up to the team taking the floor at Midnight for a dunk contest (Men vs Women) and 3-point contest followed by a scrimmage as CCC suits up for the first time during the 2013-2014 season.

Both the Coahoma Community College band and Cheerleading squad are also scheduled to perform.

“We really hope for a great turnout from the student body as well as the local community,” said Head Coach Ira Peterson. “We want everyone to come out and get a look at our first practice, have some fun interacting with the players and get a chance to see them in action. We are looking to build some excitement in the weeks leading up to the opening of our season.”

Admission to Midnight Madness is free for students and the general public and the activities should wrap-up around 1:30 a.m.
