Members of the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors, Clarksdale Mayor and Board of Commissioners, CCC faculty and staff, and members of the local business community all enjoyed lunch Friday afternoon while listening to the details of the upcoming 2014 Coahoma Community College Career Expo.

CLARKSDALE – Committee members for Coahoma Community College’s Career Expo met Friday for an informational session about this year’s career fair, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Pinnacle.

The meeting, held at 11:45 in The Gallery on CCC’s campus, included city and county officials, CCC faculty and staff, members of the Board of Trustees, and members of the local business community.

According to Chairperson Charles Butler, the free event will feature exhibitors, industry and education opportunities, demonstrations and presentation for students, parents and community members.

“Not only is this an opportunity to link employers with employees, but it’s also a career awareness and career exploration opportunity for students,” Butler said. “A lot of students have no idea what the criteria is or what they need to do to prepare for their career of choice. This gives them chance to engage and connect with employers who can expose them.”

About 30 schools in CCC’s five-county service area and over 40 businesses, industries and community-based organizations have been invited to participate in this year’s event.

Committee members will meet again at 11:45 Thursday, Feb. 13, to begin fine tuning details of the event, Butler said.
