CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College students, faculty and staff gathered in the lobby of the Zee A. Barron Student Union Thursday afternoon to learn who would serve as their next student leaders for the 2014-15 school year.

The candidates anxiously lined beside Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Gregory Hudson as he stood at the podium to announce the official results of the online election held earlier in the week to determine the new Mr. And Miss CCC as well as the new Student Government Association (SGA) President and Treasurer.

Securing the position for Mr. CCC was Cadarius Cannon, an Accounting major from Leland, MS. The position of SGA President will be handed over to Christopher Neal, Jr., a Public Administration major from Clarksdale, MS. Joining him as the SGA’s Treasurer is Alanitra Adams, a Pre-Nursing major from Friars Point, MS.

And finally, Hudson announced the results of the esteemed Miss. CCC title. The position’s two candidates held hands as Hudson named Lauren Williams, a Pre-Dental Hygienist major from Clarksdale, as the 2014-15 Miss Coahoma Community College. Kayla White, a General Studies major from Indianapolis, Indiana, was announced as the Miss CCC alternate.

“These leadership positions are extremely important to the viability and to the successful matriculation of the Coahoma Community College student body,” said Hudson. “We would like to thank the student body for going online to vote for the student leaders of the 2014-2015 academic year.”

CCC’s Annual Spring Coronation is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Pinnacle.
