Coahoma Baseball to Hold Tryout June 27th
CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College will be holding open tryouts for an opportunity to be a part of its 2014-15 baseball program on Friday, June 27th. The workout begins at 3 p.m. and will be held at Lee Academy in Clarksdale while the CCC field is undergoing renovations.
Coahoma announced earlier this month that former Texas Ranger draftee and University of Mississippi standout Lee Hodge would be the Tigers new head coach. Hodge was a three-year starter in the middle-infield for Ole Miss and was named the team’s Freshman of the Year, Team MVP, and earned All-SEC honors during his collegiate career. He was drafted by the Rangers in 1990 and played in the organization for three years in the Gulf Coast, South Atlantic and Florida State leagues before an injury ended his career.
The Tigers already have 23 players committed to next year’s campaign, and are looking to finalize next year’s roster.
“We want to encourage any players looking for a chance to play at the next level to come out and show us what you have to offer,” said Hodge. “We’re extremely excited about the team we have recruited to date, and even more excited about rounding out the roster and fielding a highly-competitive team this season.”
Lee Academy is located at 415 Lee Drive in Clarksdale, MS. If you have any questions about the tryout you can e-mail Coach Hodge at firstname.lastname@example.org.
