Dr. Valmadge Towner, president of Coahoma Community College, (left) presents CCC's prestigious 2017 Mississippi Humanities Teacher Award plaque to art instructor Brad Bernard Thursday following Bernard's innovative lecture: 'How the Blues put us in a funk - African American Music and the Creative Economy. Bernard's presentation included African American Music Genres: - blues, gospel, jazz, rock & roll, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, hip hop, and neo-soul. During November MHC recognizes outstanding teachers of humanities in Mississippi colleges and universities. Award recipients are honored again during MHC's spring award presentation in the Old Capitol Museum.
