Coahoma Community College has been on the search for a new campus nurse to take the responsibility of tending to the health needs of members of the campus community.

Karmesha Duke was recently determined the candidate to fill this position. Duke, a native of Lambert, Mississippi, is a graduate of the Associate Degree Nursing program of Hondros College of Nursing in West Chester, Ohio.

Duke sees the new role as a chance to grow and learn while reaching a diverse generation and “influence the steps they’ll take toward a healthy future.”

She seeks to serve the institution well with compassion and trustworthiness and is also able to offer advocacy in her new role. Duke anticipates engaging with her students/patients. She hopes to learn their goals and plans for tomorrow while knowing the care she’ll provide will assist in making those dreams possible.

“I would like to present health education in a fun and exciting way where students are eager to learn,” said Duke. “I would like for them to know that I’m here for any questions and/or concerns they may have; come and see me in the Clinic.”

Duke is a proud wife and mother of three children. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and shopping.

She thanks her parents for raising her to be respectful and molding her into the person she has become. In everything she sets out to do, she strives to always give it her best shot.
