CLARKSDALE – The Coahoma Community College Division of Enrollment and Student Services is gearing up to host its 2017 New Student Orientation June 22-23.

Designed specifically for first-time freshman and transfer students, orientation provides information to ease the transition into college life and introduce the goals, mission, policies, admission requirements and programs of study available at CCC.

Themed “Operation Transformation,” the two-day event will kick-off with a jam-packed day of informational sessions, campus tours, team and leadership building exercises and other fun activities.

The event will wrap up with students receiving a rundown of the registration process and registering for classes.

Director of Enrollment and Student Services Karen Woods-Done encourages all new Tigers and their parents to attend.

“There are many reasons to attend New Student Orientation—from on-site assistance with registering for classes to learning about the academic guidelines and extensive student support services offered at CCC,” Done said.

According to Done, it’s also an opportunity demonstrate to students why attending CCC can be transformative.

"Operation Transformation" means that CCC wants to be the catalyst to help you change your life. In keeping with our current CCC marketing slogan “…but first, Coahoma!” we want to show our current and future students how attending CCC first can make a positive impact on their lives.”

By the conclusion of the event, Done ultimately hopes to have prepared students for a seamless transition to college.

“Our goal is for every student who attends New Student Orientation to have completed the registration process for Summer II and/or Fall 2017,” said Done. “We want our new students to have a smooth transition in the Fall as well as meet and form a relationship with their advisor so that CCC can begin "Operation Transformation" in each of our students’ lives.”
