Countdown to Health Care Conference 2008:
You are invited to attend Coahoma Community College’s
Health Care Conference.

Recent reports have indicated that Mississippi ranks first in the United States, with over thirty percent of its population being considered obese. By hosting this conference, Coahoma Community College is reaching out to surrounding communities to inform and educate individuals about the dangers of being obese and ways for healthier living.
With anticipated presenters from all regions of the United States, the Health Care Conference for 2008 is going to be a must attend event!

The objectives for the conference are to address the critical nursing shortage; to discuss current preventive programs aimed at combating obesity; to provide an opportunity for information sharing among educators, health care professionals, and students; and to provide cutting edge research related to obesity.
We are hopeful to achieve the following outcomes:
-
Create an urgency for collaborative efforts to prevent obesity.
-
Provide an educational forum for discussion of important health care issues that affect the Mississippi Delta.
-
Provide an opportunity for sharing information among educators, health care professionals, and students.
-
Increase the number of health related activities throughout the community.
-
Increase the number of individuals entering health related professions.
The health care conference will feature an opening session on the nursing shortage in the Mississippi Delta and two “key note addresses” on obesity-related research. Concurrent breakout sessions will focus on a broad range of obesity research.
The two-day conference will typically draw an audience from the K-12 districts, college students, allied health programs, health professionals, faculty, and researchers from Mississippi and surrounding states. Additionally, the conference will provide an excellent networking opportunity for all participants.
The Health Care Conference will be held Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, 2008, at Coahoma Community College, located at 3240 Friars Point Road, Clarksdale, Mississippi, 38614.
There is no conference registration fee for attendees.
Limited exhibit space will be offered on a first availability status. All exhibitors must register to attend the conference. Approximately 250-300 people are expected to attend the health care conference. Fee required.
