STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
The Student Government Association serves as a means of communication for all students to the faculty and administration of Coahoma Community College. The Student Government Association has scheduled meetings each month. During the meetings, recommendations and suggestions from students, faculty, staff and administration are discussed.

The elected officers of the Student Government Association are president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

STUDENT ELECTIONS

Requirements for Elections:
The election for Miss CCC, SGA President, and SGA Secretary will be held during the spring semester at the discretion of the Dean of Student Affairs. If there are no eligible candidates, a committee will convene and appoint the student to said position.

  • Any student seeking an elected position at Coahoma Community College, must have
    a 3.0 or above cumulative grade point average and be in good standing with the
    college.
  • Freshmen seeking election during the fall semester must have a 3.0 or above
    cumulative grade point average from high school.
  • A student is in good standing if he/she is not on probation (social or academic) and
    not in default in payment of fees.
  • Student must also be a full-time (12 hrs).
  • Election and coronation will be held in the spring semester.

Miss Coahoma Community College

  • Exhibits and maintains high moral and social standards
  • Must present three letters of recommendation (two from an instructor, and one from an administrator
  • Possess pleasing personality
  • Exhibits common sense
  • Cooperates with institution's ideals for student life
  • Renders services to the College and Community
  • Be a female
  • Completed admissions requirements for Coahoma Community College
  • Student entering the sophomore year
  • Must have completed one semester at Coahoma Community College

Student Government Association President

  • Exhibits good character and citizenship
  • Exhibits common Sense
  • Conducts himself/herself in a manner which is compatible with the institution’s ideal for Student Life
  • Maintains high morals and social standards
  • Renders service to the college and the community
  • Completed admissions requirements for Coahoma Community College
  • Student entering the sophomore year
  • Must have completed one semester at Coahoma Community College

Homecoming Queen and Court
The Homecoming Queen and Homecoming Court are elected at least two weeks before Homecoming. The Student Government Association is responsible for the election and carries out the balloting. The Homecoming Court consists of the Homecoming Queen, two Sophomore Maids, and two Freshmen Maids. The Homecoming Queen will be elected by the student population.

The student receiving the highest number of votes from the student body will be crowned Homecoming Queen. The two sophomores receiving the second and third highest number of votes will be the Sophomore Maids. The freshman class will elect two Freshman Maids. Sophomore and Freshman Maid's positions do not include the title positions of Miss Sophomore and Miss Freshman.

Homecoming Queen Qualifications

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Render service to the college and community
  • Must be a sophomore
  • Must present three letters of recommendation (two from an instructor, and one from an administrator
  • Possess a pleasing personality
  • Be of the female gender
    Additional duties of the Homecoming Queen are to become an active member of the Student Government Association and to serve in all Spring Fest activities.
