Position Description:(primary functions)
Teaches courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follows the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the department faculty and administered by the Director of Nursing.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
- One-year of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
- An unencumbered license as a registered nurse to practice in Mississippi or multistate license from another NLC state.
- Satisfies a criminal background check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates with faculty in development of course objectives, course daily plan, and evaluation of total curriculum and revision of program policies.
- Prepares and improves classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical instruction.
- Plans, selects, and evaluates learning experiences in assigned clinical agencies based on individual student needs, program objectives, and program philosophy.
- Collaborates with the Program Director in the development of the curriculum, in the preparation of course syllabi, and the selection of textbooks.
- Communicates with appropriate agency personnel in planning, selecting, and evaluating student learning experiences.
- Assumes responsibility for the instruction and supervision of students in the clinical setting.
- Participates in faculty and team meetings and in nursing program committees.
- Communicates with program director and team members regarding student concerns and issues and student progress as appropriate.
- Maintains and files student records, clinical evaluation forms, grade reports, and rosters.
- Provides direction and support to adjunct faculty.
- Remains current in the assigned subject matter and techniques of effective instruction through recent clinical experience and/or professional development.
- Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments.
- Participates in campus activities and programs.
- Complete ten (10) contact hours of continuing education for professional development each academic year.
- Works a minimum of 35 hours each week on campus during the fall and spring semesters.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Program Director.
