Position Description:(primary functions)
Provides the leadership of career counseling to students, develops workshops and provides needed information to aid in the development of students for life after graduationMinimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a related field required (business, education, computer information systems, community and economic development, educational leadership/administration, community college leadership, student personnel, higher education); extensive knowledge base of career computer software preferred; 3 years working with community agencies and businesses in job location for post secondary students preferred; experience in working with faculty k-12 or postsecondary in developing career workshops based on major fields of study required; Good interpersonal, oral communication, and writing skills required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsels and advises current and potential students on an individual or group basis when appropriate regarding potential careers
- Supervises and coordinates programs and workshops on topics related to careers or the preparation thereof
- Assists students with resume’ writing and term papers
- Assists with campus retention efforts
- Presents appropriate workshops for student body
- Assists with the preparation of institutional reports, administration/evaluation of surveys, and other institutional research activities
- Serves on college/campus committees as assigned
- Obtains professional updates by attending appropriate conferences, workshops, and seminars
- Assists with special activities of the division
- Assists in the planning, coordination and implementation of pre‐enrollment activities for prospective students such as Orientation, meetings with parents, etc.
- Assists with the supervision of student workers
- Assists with the supervision of student activities
- Serves as a resource and provide responses to student life crisis
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director and Assistant Director of Student Engagment
