(Clarksdale, Miss.) — Coahoma Community College (CCC) hosted its annual “Meet Your Advisor: It’s My Pleasure to Help” event on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Plaza, providing students with the opportunity to connect directly with their academic advisors and receive hands-on support from multiple campus offices.
Themed “It’s My Pleasure to Help!”, the event underscored CCC’s ongoing dedication to student success and academic guidance. Students were able to engage one-on-one with their advisors to discuss degree plans, academic goals, and Spring Registration. Representatives from campus wide support offices were also present to assist with questions about Single Sign-On, Canvas, and other essential college resources.
Designed to make advising more accessible and interactive, “Meet Your Advisor” encouraged students to take an active role in planning their educational journey. Advisors provided tailored recommendations for class schedules, major requirements, and pathways toward graduation, while also sharing information about tutoring, scholarships, and academic enrichment opportunities.
Advising is such a vital part of the college experience. Events like this ensure that students know advisors are here to help them every step of the way from registration to graduation. The goal is to make the advising process smooth, supportive, and empowering.
The event was part of Coahoma’s R.O.A.D. to Success initiative—Revitalizing Orientation and Advising Development—a program designed to strengthen academic advising, enhance student development, and improve overall retention rates. Through this initiative, CCC continues to align its academic and support services to ensure students receive comprehensive guidance both in and outside the classroom.
Students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to meet face-to-face with advisors and staff members. Many noted that the event helped them feel more confident and prepared for the upcoming semester.
“Meet Your Advisor” reflected Coahoma Community College’s holistic approach to student engagement, emphasizing collaboration, communication, and care. The event demonstrated the college’s ongoing mission to empower students to reach their full potential and to equip them with the tools they need for lifelong success.
