Durocher Service Projects program director and Coahoma Community College Career STEP Navigator carries a community legacy forward through student and family support.
Jalisa Brunt, Career STEP Navigator at Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and Durocher Service Projects program director, connects Delta students and families with education, career guidance and community resources.
Durocher Service Projects Program Director Jalisa Brunt also serves as the Career STEP Navigator for Coahoma Community College, continuing to build connections between education, career development and the needs of individuals and families throughout Coahoma County. Through this work, she continues to serve the community and help young people and families access guidance, resources and opportunities that can support their educational and career goals.
“We carry the legacy of those who served before us by opening doors for those who will come after us,” said Jalisa Brunt, Career STEP Navigator at Coahoma Community College.
Her role with Coahoma Community College extends that commitment into career navigation, where she works with students pursuing education and workforce goals. Her service with Durocher Service Projects brings that same focus into community-based work with young people and families across the Delta.
Kyrie Antici, executive director of Durocher Service Projects, said Brunt’s involvement with the organization reflects a commitment to community service and to creating opportunities for others.

Through her dedication to service, she demonstrates the power of leadership rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a desire to make a lasting difference,” Antici said.
“This kind of dedication carries over into her role as Career Step Navigator for Coahoma as she helps to remove barriers and support students in their educational and workforce endeavors,” Antici added.
Durocher Service Projects, the Mississippi DBA of Black Parents United Foundation, is rooted in Jonestown, Mississippi, and serves young people and families in Jonestown and surrounding communities throughout the Mississippi Delta. Its work continues a tradition of service associated with Sister Kay Burton, whose commitment to young people and the community helped establish a foundation that continues to influence the organization.
The organization’s founders are from Jonestown and each came through Coahoma Community College as a young person. Their shared experience shaped a belief that young people deserve access to guidance, opportunity and support that can help them recognize and pursue possibilities for their futures.
Her work reflects the broader mission of Durocher Service Projects: to help individuals see pathways forward while strengthening the communities that have shaped them. The connection between Durocher Service Projects and Coahoma Community College is therefore not only part of the organization’s history; it remains part of its ongoing commitment to service, education and opportunity in the Mississippi Delta.
