Coahoma Community College announced Selina Reid will serve as a 2026–2027 voting member
of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Appeals Committee.
Selina Reid, Director of Athletics, will serve alongside athletic administrators from two-year institutions across the nation while representing Coahoma Community College, NJCAA Region 23 and the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference.
The NJCAA Appeals Committee reviews appeals submitted by member institutions and works to ensure each case is considered fairly, consistently and in accordance with NJCAA bylaws and policies. The committee’s decisions can have a significant impact on student-athletes and member institutions, placing particular importance on fairness, integrity and due process. Committee members are scheduled to meet weekly via Zoom to review and address appeals.
“I am humbly grateful for the opportunity to serve as a 2026–2027 voting member of the NJCAA Appeals Committee,” Reid said. “I am honored by the confidence placed in me and look forward to serving with integrity, professionalism and a steadfast commitment to fairness, due process and student-athlete success.”
Coahoma Community College President Dr. Valmadge T. Towner praised Reid’s selection and the qualities she will bring to the national committee.
“We are excited to hear of Mrs. Reid’s selection,” Towner said. “She is a lifelong learner, easy to work with and always looking for ways to improve herself and expand her work capacity. I am confident that she will add value to the NJCAA Appeals Committee. We are proud to have the opportunity to work with her at Coahoma Community College.”
Reid’s appointment builds on her previous service and professional development within the NJCAA. She has presented on NJCAA eligibility at both the state and national levels and was selected to participate in the inaugural 2024 NJCAA Aspiring Leaders Program.
Through the program, Reid served as an ex officio member of the NJCAA Eligibility Committee during 2024–2025, gaining additional experience in eligibility, compliance and NJCAA governance.
Reid also credited Towner for his leadership and continued support throughout her professional development.
“I am especially grateful to President Dr. Valmadge T. Towner for his leadership, encouragement and continued support,” Reid said. “Those opportunities have allowed me to grow professionally, serve beyond our campus and represent Coahoma Community College at the state and national levels.”
Reid said she is grateful to the NJCAA for the opportunity to continue serving the association and its member institutions while representing Coahoma Community College on the national level.
