As graduation day draws near, it's natural to feel a whirlwind of emotions—nervousness, excitement, relief, worry, eagerness, and, yes, stress. There's the stress of making it to commencement on time, of ensuring your family's presence, and of contemplating what lies ahead. But it doesn't have to be that way. Your graduation day from Coahoma is meant to be a celebration brimming with joy, laughter, and perhaps a few happy tears. So, take a moment to breathe, relax, and let these helpful reminders and seven tips guide you toward making your graduation day everything you've envisioned.

REMINDERS FOR GRADUATES:

  • Ensure accessibility/accommodation: CCC offers support for those needing special assistance or services. Contact Taneisha Turner, director of Employee Services/Coordinator for 504/ADA, Title IX Compliance Officer, at (662) 621-4853 or tyoung@coahomacc.edu to arrange.
  • Pay graduation fees: The $65 graduation fee must be settled with the Business Office by Monday, May 6, 2024, regardless of participation in the ceremony.
  • Clear financial obligations: Diplomas/degrees will only be issued to those with a $0 balance on their accounts.
  • Arrive early: Please arrive early, no later than 7:00 a.m. on graduation day.

ATTIRE:

  • Men:
    • Black slacks
    •  White dress shirt with a dark tie
    • Black dress shoes
  • Women:
    • Black attire (dress, skirt/pants suit, or trousers)
    • Comfortable black pumps or flats

GRADUATION DAY TIPS:

  1. Be prepared: Have everything ready for yourself and your guests. Plan ahead for start times, parking, and keep a schedule handy. Ensure you get enough rest and have a nutritious breakfast to sustain you through the day. Stay hydrated!
  2. Dress appropriately: Consider the day's activities and dress comfortably yet elegantly. Keep your hair simple to fit under the cap, and wear something with pockets for convenience. Remember to stay hydrated.
  3. Congratulate yourself: Take a moment to acknowledge all that you've accomplished during your time at Coahoma. You've worked hard to reach this milestone, so give yourself credit for a job well done.
  4. Slow down: Take a break from worrying about the future or any pending tasks. Simply embrace the moment and enjoy the culmination of your efforts. This is your moment to savor.
  5. Say thank you: Acknowledge the support you've received along the way, whether from family, friends, or mentors. Express your gratitude for their encouragement and assistance.
  6. Take plenty of photos: Amidst the hustle and bustle, don't forget to capture the memories. Snap photos throughout the day to commemorate this special occasion, and be sure to include a shot in front of the Pinnacle with the Mackie the Tiger statue for a memorable keepsake.
