(Clarksdale, Miss.) — The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Coahoma Community College is proud to continue offering its popular podcast — a resource that delivers far‑reaching, cost‑efficient professional development and shines a spotlight on best practices in teaching, learning, and community engagement. Created and led by CETL Director Dr. Ouida McAfee, this podcast showcases the expertise and insights of faculty, staff, and leaders from Coahoma and other HBCUs such as Morehouse College and Howard University, as well as valued community leaders and distinguished alumni.
The CETL podcast explores vital topics that matter in higher education and beyond, including:
- Social Justice in meetings and institutional culture
- Innovative Teaching Frameworks that support student learning
- Improving Student Retention through Foreign Language instruction
- The link between Hygiene, Student Grades, and Attendance
- Navigating Patents in Education, featuring a patented expert advising teachers on obtaining patents
“My goal was to create a podcast that makes high‑quality, evidence‑based professional development accessible to a wider audience — connecting faculty, staff, students, and the surrounding community,” said Dr. McAfee, Director of CETL.
In support of this initiative, President Dr. Valmadge Towner stated, “We are committed to making as many CETL resources available to the public as possible. This podcast allows us to foster collaboration across institutions, expand access to innovative ideas, and uplift the work of faculty, staff, students, and the community leaders and alumni who help make Coahoma a beacon for excellence and impact.”
The CETL podcast can be accessed online via YouTube or through its dedicated page
