(Clarksdale, Miss.) — The Division of Student Engagement at Coahoma Community College hosted the highly anticipated Miss Coahoma Community College Pageant and Mister Coahoma Community College Showcase on Tuesday evening in the Pinnacle. The event brought together students, faculty, staff, and supporters to celebrate leadership, talent, and Tiger pride while selecting the institution’s next royal representatives.

At the conclusion of the competition, Ja’Veon Howard and Madysin Pigram were crowned Mister & Miss Coahoma Community College for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Howard, a business administration major from Goodman, Mississippi,  and Pigram, a psychology major from Clarksdale, Mississippi, earned the titles after competing in several categories designed to highlight personality, intellect, and performance. Both contestants showcased their public speaking abilities by presenting speeches as their talents during the competition.

Participants competed in multiple judged categories including introductions, personal interview, talent competition, evening wear, swimsuit/athletic competition, and on-stage questions. Prior to the pageant, contestants also engaged in campaigning efforts, where student votes were collected to support their candidates. Final results were determined through scores provided by a panel of judges.

The Miss CCC competition also featured three additional contestants who delivered memorable performances throughout the evening.

Tora Sanford, a general studies major from Batesville, Mississippi, earned the title of First Alternate after impressing the audience with a classical piano performance of Beethoven.

Jada Herron, a business administration major from Marks, Mississippi, was named Second Alternate following a graceful and inspiring praise dance performance.

Makadynn Dixon, a business administration major from Morgan City, Mississippi, received Third Alternate after delivering a powerful and expressive spoken word poem as her talent.

Throughout the evening, contestants demonstrated confidence, creativity, and poise, delivering compelling speeches, showcasing diverse talents, and presenting elegant evening wear while offering thoughtful and intellectual responses during the on-stage question portion of the program.

Serving as hosts for the evening were the 2025–2026 Mister and Miss Coahoma Community College, Ja’Mikal Reed and Zariah Hamidou, who reflected on their experiences representing the college over the past year. During the program, the pair shared words of encouragement and advice with the newly crowned titleholders as they prepare to begin their journey as ambassadors of the institution.

The Mister and Miss Coahoma Community College Pageant continues to serve as a cherished campus tradition that highlights student leadership, talent, and school spirit. As the new titleholders, Pigram and Howard will represent Coahoma Community College at campus events and serve as role models for the student body throughout the upcoming academic year.

With the support of the Division of Student Engagement, the pageant remains a meaningful platform for students to showcase their abilities while celebrating the pride and excellence that define the Coahoma community.
