(Clarksdale, Mississippi) — Coahoma Community College proudly announces Mar’Kayla S. Williams as valedictorian and Briauna Mosby as salutatorian for the 2026 graduating class. The honor reflects the highest level of academic achievement attained by two students in the Class of 2026.

Mar’Kayla S. Williams, a sophomore general education major from Marks, Miss., is a 2025 graduate of Madison Palmer High School. She continued her academic studies at Coahoma, maintaining a strong commitment to excellence both inside and outside of the classroom. Reflecting on her achievement, Williams shared that earning the title of Valedictorian in both high school and college is deeply meaningful.

“It is truly an honor and a blessing to carry the title of valedictorian from high school to Coahoma Community College,” Williams said.“My hard work and consistency have paid off, and I’m grateful for the support from my family, teachers, and mentors as it motivates me to stay focused and keep pushing toward my goals.”

Williams said her experience at the college contributed to both academic and personal growth. She cited her involvement in the Honors College and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as key influences on her development

“Being selected as valedictorian at Coahoma means everything to me,” she said. “It reflects perseverance, growth, and faith. My journey taught me discipline and commitment, and through my involvement and faith, I’ve grown as a leader and learned that with God, all things are possible.”

Briauna Mosby, a sophomore psychology major from Mound Bayou, Miss., and a graduate of Northside High School. Mosby also carried the distinction of Salutatorian from high school into her collegiate career, demonstrating resilience and determination throughout her academic journey.

“It feels amazing to carry this title,” Mosby said. “I am honored. Transitioning from high school to college was hard, but I managed well. Being named Salutatorian means a lot to me, and I’m proud knowing the hard work and long nights paid off.”

Mosby said her time at Coahoma Community College strengthened her resilience and support network.

“My journey at Coahoma has strengthened my faith and shown me that I can trust in God,” she said. “College has been a life-changing opportunity, and I’m grateful for the support from my faith, family, friends, and faculty that pushed me to succeed.”

The recognition of Williams and Mosby reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to student achievement and academic success. Their accomplishments highlight the importance of discipline, persistence, and support systems throughout the college experience.
