(Clarksdale, Miss.)— Coahoma Community College will dismiss campus operations early on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. due to winter storm forecasts impacting the region. This proactive decision prioritizes the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff as a major winter weather system is expected to bring freezing rain, ice, and hazardous travel conditions to portions of Mississippi and the Mid-South beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend.
Winter storm outlooks issued for the region warn of hazardous road conditions, reduced visibility, and an increased likelihood of power outages due to ice accumulation. Portions of the central and southern United States have been placed under winter storm watches and advisories as the system tracks east and intensifies.
