Position Description:(primary functions)

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Demonstrated skill in organizing resources and setting priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written, and ability to interact and communicate effectively with the media, various constituencies and a diverse community.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize meetings and special events.
- Demonstrated skill in computers and software applications; demonstrated knowledge of athletic sports, facilities and equipment.
- Experience or ability to conduct play-by-play broadcasts and stream live broadcast over the Internet.
- Ability to maintain an athletic website, including keeping stats and updating daily with press releases, photos and video.
- A working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision of the Chief Communications Officer, organize and coordinate coverage of all Coahoma Community College’s (CCC) athletic teams and the promotion of its athletes. Write and distribute press releases to media outlets; respond to requests for team histories, photos, statistics and related information. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local and state media, the local community, and other Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACCC) conference teams.
- Prepare press releases to promote student-athletes, coaches, and CCC staff accomplishments, history, statistics and highlights as well as upcoming CCC events; identify appropriate media and channel distribution, coordinating with support services and college/community partners.
- Prepare and oversee the production and distribution of athletic promotional materials including TV/radio advertising, flyers, programs and press releases/kits. Gathers and compile statistical information and respond to media and public requests for athletic information; disseminates information via appropriate media and channels.
- Maintain CCC athletic website to include online calendar of events, web gallery specific to athletics program, score boxes and scoring information for all sports programs, player profiles, press releases and media stories.
- Develop and produce media guide and programs; write program articles, season outlook and season reviews for each sport; coordinate sport photo shoots. Coordinate with college staff and community partners on the development, production, and distribution of media guides/programs.
- Travel with athletic teams; assist with set up of materials and equipment for game-day operations and events; write and prepare pre-, in-, and post-game documents for media, press box and operations personnel, student-athletes, cheer squad and appropriate parties; provide information to opponent sports information office regarding CCC team; respond to media requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
*Candidates are asked to submit copies of four writing examples, two graphic design representations, three letters of reference, and a demo reel to display video editing and announcing skills.
