Coahoma Community College administrators recently announced that COVID-19 protocols and procedures would remain and, in some instances, elevate to ensure a safe, productive holistic educational experience this fall. With students taking up residency on campus, CCC president Dr. Valmadge T. Towner mandates guidelines to safeguard individuals when present on campus.

As COVID-19 infections resurge in the U.S., members of the campus community are to wear face masks or coverings when in indoor settings. Although vaccination is not a requirement, immunization is advised for students and personnel. Students residing in dormitories should submit a negative COVID test no more than 72 hours, or three days, old before moving on campus.

"In some instances, we are providing on-campus vaccination opportunities," CCC president Valmadge T. Towner informed. "We are maintaining all of our initial protocols—facial gear, sanitizing stations, temperature kiosk, spatial distancing, remain at home when sick, etc."

"We are desirous of having a traditional Fall semester as much as possible while also remaining safe as possible. Brick and mortar classes enable students to exchange and share at intimate levels educationally that cannot be attained via virtual modalities. Our students and faculty are resilient enough to reach and learn virtually. Yet, many have a personal affinity for person-to-person educational delivery."

Coahoma offers two course delivery methods to accommodate each student's preference: (1) In-person, socially distanced instruction and (2) fully online, self-paced.

In concurrence with Towner, Director of Student Engagement Karen Woods-Done also urges campus visitors to get vaccinated and advises taking precautions.

"Coahoma Community College recognizes the need for our campus to be attentive in fighting COVID-19 and ensuring our campus is as safe as possible," Woods-Done stated. "As a result, we are strongly encouraging students, employees, and visitors to be fully vaccinated prior to coming to campus."
