Not many are doubly spunky. But such is Bobbie Robertson, the administrative coordinator for the Associate Degree Nursing, Phlebotomy, and EKG programs, who has now been named Employee of the Month twice within her nine years of service at Coahoma Community College.

Since losing one of her beloved sisters to COVID-19 last year, being a cheerleader in the stands along with her spirited sister crew at CCC's basketball games has been put on the backburner. Alternatively, Robertson, a longtime stan for basketball who fondly remembers playing the sport in school, tunes in to matchups streamed online.

Loyal to her duties, she continuously serves as a Sunday School teacher and an assistant to her church's youth department.

"Due to Covid-19, we are not meeting on a regular basis, but I enjoy participating and hearing the voices on Sunday School and Bible Class conference call," she noted. The pandemic, though unfortunate, has gotten her adept with technology.

Robertson dodges the coronavirus by delving into safe activities these days. She crafts together creative monthly displays aligned with the health care calendar for the off-campus Health Science division.

Though an adverse global health crisis recently unfolded, her love for Coahoma Community College stood an unwavering constant. Robertson appreciates how Coahoma is armed with offerings for the entire family. She is charmed by the way Coahoma "reaches out to the communities, getting everyone involved and helping students to be successful in whatever they strive to do."

For her, such aspects as student involvement, teamwork, graduation, and pinning ceremonies are wondrous sights of the College.

Regarding the teamwork she sees between personnel, she says students are truly Coahoma's main priority. Her emotions match that of joyous students when they have checked off a sought-after accomplishment.

Carrying the impact of her mother, who touts producing exceptional work, Robertson, an alum of CCC, has a bachelor's in business administration from LeMoyne-Owen College and a Master of Business Administration from Delta State University.

She says of becoming a two-time Employee of the Month, "I feel very honored to be considered a valued team member of my division. I enjoy working with the faculty and staff in the Health Science Division, as well as others from the main campus."

Dr. Donna Honour

After accumulating just five years of service at Coahoma, Associate Degree Nursing instructor Dr. Donna Honour is getting to enjoy the gold-star honor of Employee of the Month.

Motivated by the strong conviction that she is living in her purpose, the Greenville, Miss. native illuminates the Robert G. Mason Health Science Center, which houses the Practical Nursing, Respiratory Care, and ADN programs, with a wealth of knowledge gained through the attainment of three academic degrees; a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Mississippi College, a Master of Science in nursing with a focus on nursing education from Delta State University, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Southern Mississippi.

A nurse-turned-educator, Honour staunchly believes in the power resulting from the pursuit of knowledge and is "committed to lifelong learning that strengthens faith, social presence, dynamic citizenship, personal growth, competitiveness, employability, and self-sustainability."

She finds Coahoma Community College's friendly and family-like atmosphere significantly appealing.

"There are no strangers here!" she expressed. "I love that Coahoma is community-oriented and offers great opportunities for anyone who has a true desire to learn and move forward."

Honour was named Nurse of the Year by Greenville's Delta Regional Medical Center in 2004 and currently serves as the vice-chair of the Mississippi Practical Nursing Council of the Mississippi Community College Board. She is the longtime wife of Neal Honour and the mother of three grown children, Evette, Danielle, and Cornelius, with an assortment of Rottweilers and German Shepherds, namely BJ, Diamond, BB, and Kobe, rounding out her family.

Courageously embracing her casual side, she enjoys entertaining an audience of co-workers as a stand-up comedienne. "I think if you're too busy to laugh, you're too busy. Laughter is the best medicine," she says. The action movie fan is stan for John Wick films and lets her hair down to get active for outdoor life, primarily water sports.

Her parents have been her greatest influences as they touted learning and growing while carrying out the coveted qualities of being driven and focused.

As a member of Coahoma's family of instructors, she delights in the opportunity to share what she loves doing in ways that ignite, inspire, and encourage nursing students to become exceptional nurses, future leaders in health care, and difference-makers in the lives of patients as well as their communities.

Regarding being selected as an Employee of the Month, she says, "I am honored and humbled to be thought of in such a positive way and regarded as a valued member of a great team."
