Joharrison Rockett

Fourteen-year mathematics instructor Joharrison Rockett is drawn to the family environment and commitment shown at Coahoma Community College. Displaying a fondness toward teaching, he says he enjoys introducing students' minds to new skills and knowledge. "To know them is to Love them," he shares. "I keep this quote in mind, when I'm teaching. We, as educators, have to know our students to a point that we can motivate learning."

He holds much gratitude for his grandmother, who has molded him into a man of dignity. She is remembered for instilling in him, 'Whatever you do for God or Anyone, Let it be REAL.'

"She didn't want any fakeness or pretending around her," he recalls.

A product of Sallis, Miss., Rockett pursued collegiate study at Alcorn State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 2000 and a master's in mathematics education in 2002.

The action movie aficionado sings, attends church, and reads the Word of God. He also exhibits a love for acting out different movie characters in his leisure. Currently engaged to be married and a father to two beautiful children, he has learned that family is everything; family is the engine behind his strive in fulfilling tasks as they are known to push relatives to show dedication. "Family will be there when your friends are gone," says Rockett.

During the College's professional development conferences, he looks forward to faculty unifying and getting comfortable to allow fun vibes. Rockett is also a fan of faculty and students teaming up to work together on various projects.

He stands boldly by the biblical scripture found in the book of Matthew, chapter six, and verse 33. "If you put the LORD our God first in your life, you succeed at anything that you put your mind to, and overcome any obstacles the world throws at you," Rockett explained.
