(Clarksdale, Mississippi) – Coahoma Community College is proud to announce that Joseph
McKee, Director of Financial Aid, has been selected by the Mississippi Association
of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) to participate in the 2025–2026 Southern
Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) Leadership Symposium.
This distinguished program is designed to develop the next generation of leaders in student financial aid and higher education. Each year, only a select number of professionals from across the southern region are chosen to participate. Members of the 2025–2026 cohort will begin their leadership journey at the SASFAA Leadership Symposium in Charlotte, North Carolina, October 6–8, 2025, followed by a series of monthly leadership development sessions through June 2026.
The symposium will provide participants with hands-on leadership training, mentorship from senior leaders within SASFAA and NASFAA, and opportunities to gain deeper insight into higher education governance through board meeting observations at state associations. Participants will explore both practical and theoretical aspects of leadership while networking with peers from across the region.
For Coahoma Community College, this recognition highlights the caliber of its faculty and staff and the institution’s commitment to developing leaders who will shape the future of higher education.
“This is a tremendous honor, not only for me personally, but for Coahoma as well,” said Mr. McKee. “Being selected for this symposium gives me the opportunity to represent Coahoma on a larger stage, collaborate with colleagues across the South, and bring back innovative ideas that will strengthen our services and support for students.”
Dr. Valmadge Towner, President of Coahoma Community College, praised the selection, noting the impact it will have on the college community:
“We are extremely proud of Joseph McKee for being chosen to participate in the SASFAA Leadership Symposium. This selection speaks to his professional excellence and dedication to advancing student success. Opportunities like this not only elevate the individual but also benefit our entire institution as we continue to prioritize innovation, access, and support for our students.”
The SASFAA Leadership Symposium is fully funded, with travel, registration, and lodging expenses covered by the association, ensuring there is no financial impact to the college.
Coahoma Community College congratulates Joseph McKee on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to the leadership expertise and fresh perspective that will be gained through this experience.
