CLARKSDALE, Miss. - Coahoma Community College is encouraging its faculty, staff, and the general public to enroll in the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network to access free, self-paced Intel AI for Workforce training courses this fall.
The initiative provides 100 percent free access to an online curriculum designed to build practical skills, including Introduction to AI and Generative AI. Dr. Rolonda Brown, dean of Academic Affairs, emphasized the importance of mastering these tools.
"Artificial intelligence is rapidly shifting how we operate, teach, and prepare our students for the future," said Brown. "By providing this accessible training, we empower our employees to confidently utilize new technologies. I strongly encourage our campus community to take advantage of these free courses to enhance their professional capabilities."
The training is not limited to Coahoma employees. The coursework is completely free and available to the public, allowing local workforce professionals, students, and community members to develop valuable technological skills.
As artificial intelligence changes the modern workplace, understanding its applications is increasingly important for all professionals. According to a 2023 report by the McKinsey Global Institute, generative AI has the potential to automate up to 30 percent of hours currently worked across the U.S. economy by 2030, accelerating the need for technological fluency. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2023 identifies AI and machine learning specialists as the fastest-growing job category, highlighting the immediate need for communities to adapt. By gaining foundational knowledge in this space, individuals can increase daily productivity and better equip themselves for a technology-driven economy.
Because the curriculum is beginner-friendly, participants need no prior experience to register. Participants will navigate 16 modules of self-guided content hosted on Canvas, completing 64 total hours of coursework over 16 weeks. Upon completion, individuals earn professional development certificates and Credly badges.
