Coahoma Community College officially launched its new online presence on April 27, when a redesigned home page and core Web site went live.

The College’s new website reflects input from numerous stakeholders throughout the institution. The web redesign process was collaborative, guided by a number of campus representatives. Through much internal discussion, with a simplified navigation optimized for both smartphone and desktop use, the site focuses on presenting important information prospective students and their families need at the right time, all while continuing to serve current students, faculty and staff.

To ensure that the new website follows best practices, Coahoma partnered with Modern Campus, the leading web content management system (CMS) provider for higher education and leading student lifecycle management (SLM) solution provider for non-traditional higher education.

The new coahomacc.edu is responsive, meaning that it is designed to give users a great experience regardless of their device — desktop computer, tablet, or smartphone.

There’s also a greater emphasis on visuals, with more media-rich content and plans for additional photos and videos in the coming months.

In addition to the main topic sections, the site incorporates new audience-specific sections -- aimed at current students, prospective students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff -- which act as springboards into the site’s main content as well as to other College pages.

“In today’s digital world, people rely on websites for more than just information; they want an experience,” said Marriel C. Hardy, Coahoma’s chief communications officer and branding identity. “Our new website offers our visitors a more compelling look into the transformative experience that makes a Coahoma education distinctive.”

Hardy added that the College worked to create content that amplifies Coahoma’s strengths while building relationships with prospective students and their families, alumni, current students, and other key audiences.

The launch of Coahoma’s new website is the latest in the College’s efforts to enhance its brand identity, “On a Mission.” Earlier this year, Coahoma unveiled new retention and recruitment software to elevate the potential student and current student experiences respectfully.

“We look forward to hearing from people about ways to further improve the site,” said Hardy. “The process is ongoing, and we hope to continually make improvements to better serve our visitors.”

Hardy added that it takes a group effort to take on projects of this undertaking, and he thanks the dedication of all individuals involved.

“I have to give a huge thanks to Ezra Howard, director of web services, and the Office of Information Technology,” Hardy added. “Without the expertise of these talented and competent individuals, this project would not have been possible.”

The web redesign was coordinated by the College’s Office and Communications and Marketing, which worked closely on the project with other administrative divisions, including the Office or Information Technology.
