(Clarksdale, Mississippi) — Coahoma Community College proudly announces its Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian: Jeremiah Harris of Carthage, Mississippi, and Jordyn Johnson of Ruleville, Mississippi. These two exceptional students have demonstrated unwavering commitment to academic excellence and have been outstanding representatives of the Coahoma student body throughout their time on campus. Their dedication, leadership, and service reflect the very best of what the college strives to instill in its graduates.

VALJeremiah Harris, a Pre-Nursing major and graduate of Velma Jackson High School, has been named Valedictorian. Known for his intellectual curiosity and dedication to helping others, Harris is a respected member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, where he has served as a model of scholarship, leadership, and community involvement. In addition to his academic achievements, he is also a proud member of the Marching Maroon Typhoon, showcasing his musical talent and school spirit as part of Coahoma’s celebrated band program. His focus and determination have positioned him as a rising star in the healthcare field, with plans to continue his studies and make a meaningful impact in nursing. SAL

Jordyn Johnson, who also majors in Pre-Nursing, has earned the distinction of Salutatorian. A graduate of Cleveland Central High School, Johnson has embraced every opportunity to grow both academically and personally. In addition to her stellar academic record, she has played active roles in several student organizations, including the Student Government Association, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, and the Honors College. She also brings her passion for performance and school spirit to life as a member of the Marching Maroon Typhoon’s Dancin’ Jewels.

“These two students embody what it means to be a Coahoma Tiger,” said Dr. Valmadge T. Towner, President of Coahoma Community College. “Jeremiah and Jordyn are bright, hardworking, and community-oriented—qualities that make us extremely proud. They have left a lasting impression on this campus, and we are excited to see all they will accomplish in the future.”

Dr. Rolonda Brown, Dean of Academic Affairs, added her praise, noting the remarkable paths both students have taken. “Both Jeremiah and Jordyn have shown remarkable discipline and perseverance in one of the college’s most rigorous academic tracks,” said Dr. Brown. “Their commitment to excellence, both inside and outside the classroom, is inspiring. They have truly earned these honors, and we are thrilled to celebrate their achievements.”

The Valedictorian and Salutatorian will be formally recognized during the 2025 Commencement Ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025. They will lead their fellow graduates in a celebration of achievement, perseverance, and the promise of a bright future ahead.
