
(Clarksdale, Mississippi) — Coahoma Community College celebrated its 2026 spring commencement ceremony Saturday, May 9, in Clarksdale, Miss., honoring the achievements of graduates as they completed an important academic milestone.
The ceremony brought together graduates, families, faculty, staff, administrators and supporters for a day centered on recognition, reflection and new beginnings. As graduates crossed the stage, the moment represented years of coursework, commitment, sacrifice and support from the Coahoma community.
Kell Smith served as the commencement speaker, offering a message of encouragement to the Class of 2026. Smith challenged graduates to move forward with confidence, purpose and a clear understanding of the responsibility that comes with their achievement. The address emphasized perseverance, service and the importance of using education as a foundation for future success.
Throughout the ceremony, Coahoma Community College recognized the dedication of students who completed associate degree programs, career and technical pathways and specialized certificate programs. Their accomplishments reflected the College’s ongoing role in preparing students for university transfer, immediate workforce entry and meaningful service across the Mississippi Delta and beyond.
The Class of 2026 also celebrated the support systems that helped make the day possible. Family members, friends, instructors, mentors and campus leaders played a vital role in helping graduates remain focused and reach the finish line. Their presence added to the significance of the occasion as the College honored not only individual achievement, but also the collective commitment behind each graduate’s success.
For many graduates, commencement marked both an ending and a beginning. The ceremony served as a formal close to their time as Coahoma students while opening the door to continued education, career advancement, military service, entrepreneurship and community leadership.
