(Clarksdale, Mississippi) — Coahoma Community College will host its annual Spring Concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, featuring the college choir and guest artists in a program centered on gospel music and community engagement.

The performance, led by Dr. Kelvin Towers, Director of Fine Arts and Choir Activities, reflects the ensemble’s continued development through structured rehearsals and performance-based instruction. The concert highlights student vocal training, musical discipline, and stage presentation.

“The level of preparation has been great,” Towers said. “For our students, gospel singing comes naturally, but the goal is to move beyond that and perform with excellence.”

The program includes both traditional and contemporary gospel selections designed to connect with a wide audience. Students prepared by studying professional recordings and applying those techniques during rehearsals to strengthen musical interpretation and delivery.

Among the performers is Jordan Williams, a sophomore music major from Clarksdale, Miss., who has participated in multiple campus vocal ensembles and community performances this academic year. The concert provides an opportunity for students like Williams to apply classroom instruction in a live performance setting.

Balancing rehearsals with additional musical commitments required coordination and consistency. Despite those demands, the choir remained focused on delivering a performance that reflects its preparation and growth.

The event also serves as a cultural resource for the region, offering access to live gospel music programming.

“Our Spring Concert creates engagement within the faith-based community and provides cultural exposure for both students and residents,” Towers said.

Guest artists Darrel Petties & Take 2 of Memphis, Tennessee, will join the program, bringing a quartet-style gospel performance.

The concert is open to the public.
