(Clarksdale, Mississippi) — Coahoma Community College will welcome alumna Percynthia
Thomas as the featured speaker for its Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, July 1, in the Pinnacle on the college campus in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
The ceremony will celebrate the accomplishments of the program’s newest graduates
as they prepare to enter the nursing profession.
Thomas, a distinguished nursing professional and Coahoma alumna, began her healthcare journey at Coahoma Community College, progressing from certified nursing assistant to licensed practical nurse before earning her Associate Degree in Nursing as a registered nurse. Her educational path continued with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University.
Currently serving as a Clinical Nurse Educator at Regional One Health, Thomas brings more than 22 years of experience across multiple areas of healthcare practice, including long-term care, home health, intensive care, medical-surgical nursing, step-down care, ambulatory services, endoscopy, correctional nursing, and nursing education.
Her career reflects a commitment to mentoring future nurses, advancing patient care, and promoting excellence within the profession. Through her work as an educator and practitioner, Thomas continues to shape the next generation of healthcare leaders while serving patients and communities with compassion and professionalism.
College officials noted that Thomas’ return to campus as the ceremony’s speaker highlights the transformative impact of Coahoma Community College’s nursing programs and the success of alumni who continue to make meaningful contributions to healthcare throughout the region and beyond.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Thomas is an active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, exemplifying the organization’s principles of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
The Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony is a longstanding tradition that recognizes graduates as they prepare to enter the nursing profession and continue the legacy of compassionate care established by those who came before them.
