(Clarksdale, Mississippi) – Coahoma Community College proudly announces Linda Davis
Payne, Family Nurse Practitioner and elder at Ruwach Ministries, as the featured speaker
for its 2025 Health Sciences Pinning Ceremony—an occasion that celebrates the academic
accomplishments, compassion, and dedication of graduates entering the healthcare field.
With a theme that mirrors her life—“From Small Beginnings to Greater Works”—Linda Davis Payne’s journey is one marked by perseverance, spiritual conviction, and a deep-rooted desire to serve. Hailing from the small town of Vance, Mississippi, Payne rose from humble beginnings to become a highly respected healthcare professional and spiritual leader. Her story embodies the very values Coahoma instills in its Health Sciences students: commitment, service, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.
Linda’s healthcare journey began in 1991 when she earned her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Motivated by a drive to expand her skills and impact, she became a Registered Nurse in 2002 and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016. Her most recent academic achievement came in 2021, when she became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. With over 34 years of experience in the nursing profession, Payne has become a beacon of compassionate, holistic care throughout her community.
Yet, her service does not end in the medical field. Linda is also a dedicated servant in ministry, currently serving as an elder and evangelist at Ruwach Ministries in Lambert, Mississippi. There, she mentors others on their spiritual journeys, offering guidance, encouragement, and a steadfast example of faith in action. Her dual calling—healthcare and ministry—allows her to care for individuals in both body and spirit, demonstrating a rare and powerful approach to healing and support.
“Linda Davis Payne’s life is a living testimony to the power of purpose,” said Dr. Annie Hankins, Director of Practical Nursing. “Her story will undoubtedly resonate with our graduates as they prepare to serve others with both skill and heart.”
Equally central to her identity is her family, who Linda credits as her foundation. She is the loving wife of Nathan Payne, and together they have built a life grounded in faith, love, and mutual respect. They share two children and three grandchildren—each of whom has been touched by Linda’s values of hard work, humility, and compassion. Her family remains her greatest source of strength and inspiration.
Through every chapter of her life—from Quitman County High School graduate to spiritual mentor and healthcare leader—Linda Davis Payne has remained a steadfast example of resilience and faith. To some, she is a seasoned nurse. To others, a spiritual guide. But to all, she is a symbol of what it means to live a life of service and significance.
The 2025 Health Sciences Pinning Ceremony will be held on July 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM on the campus of Coahoma Community College, and is open to students, faculty, families, and the greater community.
