Let's Talk

“Let’s Talk” is not a traditional evaluation/assessment or formal counseling or therapy, but rather an informal consultation to address concerns you may have at the moment. These consultations are brief and focused, typically lasting no more than 20 or 30 minutes.

The counselor will provide a range of services that can be helpful to students. After an initial evaluation, the counselor will match the student’s needs with a service, such as individual or group therapy. “Let’s Talk” may be beneficial to:

  1. Students who are more interested in the perspective of the counselor than in seeking counseling or therapy.
  2. Students who are not sure about formal counseling or therapy and wonder if it might help.
  3. Students who have a specific personal problem and would like to briefly discuss the issue.
  4. Students who have a concern about a friend and want some guidance around what to do.

Individual Counseling

In individual counseling, you have the full attention of the counselor in an one-on-one atmosphere of understanding, warmth, and insight. The goal of counseling is to help clients take more effective control of their lives. Some types of personal issues addressed include: college adjustment, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, substance abuse, eating disorders, grief/loss issues, and family problems.

Group Therapy

Students often find themselves feeling isolated or alone in their challenges, experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Group Therapy allows students to feel understood, supported, and encouraged by their peers in a safe, supportive, and confidential space. Groups are free for currently enrolled students, meet weekly for 60 to 90 minutes, include up to 10 participants, and are facilitated by CCC Counselors. The CCC Counseling Center offers a variety of groups based on the unique needs and interest areas of the students.

If you are interested in a group or have an idea for a group, please contact the counseling center to learn more.
