Requirements for Complete SAP Appeal Submission
Your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal explanation must include the following:
- Explanation of what happened (Why were you unable to meet SAP requirements?)
- Explanation of what has changed (What have you done or will do to maintain SAP requirements?)
- Relevant supporting documentation: Doctor's statement, hospital bill, obituary (must
show an "immediate family" relationship), death certificate, photographs, police report,
etc.
- Your SAP appeal explanation must match with the dates in which you were put on SAP
suspension.
If this is not your first appeal:
- Your explanation must include information about what has changed since your last appeal.
- Please note that all students are only allowed three (3) SAP appeals while attending
CCC.
Valid reasons for SAP appeal:
- Death of immediate family member - immediate family member includes parent, spouse,
sibling, and dependent child
- Medical emergencies or severe health issues - Student or immediate family member
- Financial or personal catastrophe - loss of income, home, marital, etc.
- Other unusual circumstances that affected student's ability to meet SAP standards
Invalid reasons for SAP appeal:
- Lack of awareness of withdrawal policies
- Lack of knowledge of SAP requirements
- Lack of transportation not related to natural disaster or personal catastrophe
- Unpreparedness for college coursework
- Immaturity or inability to focus
After submitting your SAP appeal:
The Office of Financial Aid will review your submitted SAP Appeal and notify students
via tigermail of their financial aid eligibility. The successful submission of an
appeal does not guarantee reinstatement of financial aid.
- Approved SAP appeal - If the student's appeal is approved and financial aid is reinstated, the student
is expected to meet the defined standards. If the student fails to meet the minimum
SAP requirements, the student will again lose financial aid eligibility and be placed
on Financial Aid Suspension.
- Denied SAP appeal - If the student's appeal is denied and financial aid is not reinstated, the student
has the option to continue enrollment by paying out of pocket. The student will be
responsible for all enrollment charges. However, neither paying for classes nor sitting
out a semester affects a student's SAP status. As a result, neither helps to reestablish
the student's financial aid eligibility.

What happened:
On September 20, 2025, I was the victim of a hit and run car accident. This incident
left me with a broken arm and broken leg. I had to be hospitalized for three weeks.
After being released from the hospital, I began physical therapy and had to attend
three days a week for six weeks. The injuries, therapies and stress interfered with
my ability to attend classes. As my classes were online, I could not use my hand to
complete the work due to the broken arm. I was unable to complete that semester, and
that is what affected my academic progress.
What has changed:
I have completed physical therapy, and my arm and leg have both healed. I am also
no longer stressed about the situation. I am now ready to continue my coursework and
fulfill my goal of getting my degree. I will study and work extra hard to achieve
this.
Documents to attach:
- A copy of the hospital bill showing the dates of hospital stay
- A statement from the physical therapist indicating therapy schedule
- A police report of the incident
